Sometimes, there's that one thing that seems just too hard or frustrating to practice. While taking breaks is good, what can we do when that break is over?
Try breaking up sections of music to practice in bite sizes. A page is made up of bars, a bar is made up of beats, a beat is made up of note(s)... Add just one more note when you practice. Then when it's no longer difficult, add another! With enough time, that once difficult, unfamiliar passage has become easy and familiar.
At some point, there will be a piece of music that doesn't seem so easy. Instead of practicing the entire song, figure out which certain parts are tricky for you!
Be brave: take a look at that window of difficulty, and try isolating and practicing just the tricky parts you see in this window. Ignore everything else for now and sit with this uncomfortable messy feeling for just a few practice repetitions.
When the window feels easier to play, don't forget to practice the whole picture and play through the whole piece with your new shiny window!
